maker: authentically natural amy paolinelli of 3 girls holistic

Have you ever flipped over your favorite bottle of amazingly fragranced face lotion to check out the ingredients and been disheartened and disillusioned to find you couldn’t read or identify them?

Ever slathered up your baby with sweet smelling lotion only to realize you didn’t know what it was made of?

Well, I certainly have…

So it makes me really happy to get to know a little more about creator and co-founder Amy and her line of awesome products, ranging from skin care to postpartum care.  Her standards are high and her ingredients pure, whole and best yet, pronounceable!

please introduce yourself?

I’m Amy. I’m a mom, a wife, a lover of nature, and natural healing. I grew up in Southern California with a mom who literally used to hug the tree in our front yard whenever the tree trimmers came down the street. To say that
I was embarrassed by her would be an understatement, but as the years have passed, you could probably find me doing the same thing! I’ve been lucky to live in a number of places, and am currently in Las Vegas, although we’re hoping to finally settle somewhere in Northern California within the next couple of years. Being active and outside, especially near water, are two things that make me very happy!

what do you make or do?

I make a line of authentically natural personal care products, meaning I don’t use a single synthetic ingredient. I believe that the Earth provides us with so many amazing ingredients that there really isn’t a reason to use
anything else. I also believe that less is more, so I use a minimal number of ingredients (always less than 10) so as to allow each one to have its greatest effect. We started with a skin care line, and have grown to include a postpartum line, an amazingly effective aftershave/wax product, and some fun roll-on perfumes and lip gloss for fancy little girls.

where can we find your creations?

Our products can be found online through our website as well as at a variety of retailers across the country, including The Road Less Traveled in Santa Ana, Ca.

how long have you been creating and is it your full-time job?

I started my business in July of 2012, and by the spring of 2013, it was requiring close to a full-time effort. I feel lucky each day that I get to focus on something that I really love. It has its ups and downs, as with
everything else, but it is such an incredible learning and growing experience filled with excitement and hope for the future that I can never imagine not doing it.

when you’re not making things, what do you do?

I have 3 young children, ages 7, 5 and 2, so when I am not working on my business, I am with them. They love to help out though! They can take credit for all of the expiration stickers on all of my products.

what obstacles have you had to overcome to lead a creative life?

Oh, gosh! The things you give up and sacrifice to turn your creative life into a business can be huge. For me they were anyway. Money and time away from my children have been two of the biggest hurdles. But, I’ve always
believed in what I was doing, and I’ve always had a strong sense that as long as I don’t give up, it will be a far brighter future for all of us, in all ways, than had I not sacrificed in those areas.

where do you find inspiration?

There is no question that I find my inspiration in nature!

what inspiring advice would you give to other creatives be they
established or just starting out?

– Trust your gut
– Believe, even when you might doubt
– Failures are part of the ride and there is always a lesson within them
– Find people to share your journey with
– Be good at not only the creative side, but the business side as well.
If you can’t be, find someone who can help you who is!
