December DIY + Creative Business Book Club 2015
As much as I hate that the older I get, the faster time seems to pass I can’t help but love December. I’m a sucker for all the sparklyness of the holidays. The day after Thanksgiving my husband and I start excitedly looking for any signs of callous-handed twenty-something men unloading Christmas trees from trucks.
The second the first chilly night comes we throw a log in the fire and mix up Manhattans. Come December 1st 90% of the music I listen to is holiday music. The ultimate is the day when I feel like enough of the presents that I ordered online have arrived and I sit down and watch several holiday movies (Home for the Holidays, Christmas Vacation and The Family Stone are tops for me) and wrap presents.
The other thing I love about the end of the year is making my goals for the next year. I’m a list-maker to my core and the chance to make a list of EVERYTHING that I want to happen in the following year fills me with almost as much delight as knowing that soon I’ll be sitting at the dining room table with my family and friends playing Cards Against Humanity or some other game that will bring us to tears from laughing so much. The other thing I love to do is think about my top five or so things that I’m the most proud of from the year that’s just about to end. I feel like creative business owners (like me) tend to focus on what we want and not congratulate ourselves enough for the things that we’ve accomplished. It’s just as important to relish in the awesomeness of the completion of goals as it is to make resolutions for the new year. However if some of your resolutions for 2016 include being more creative or building your business you need to check out our picks for this month’s book club.

In 2015, I had surgery (awful and painful on my booty surgery!), got married, and am currently 8 weeks pregnant! Whew! What a year it’s been! ?
Congrats on a full year! And congrats on exciting adventures in 2016!
My greatest accomplishment for 2015 was deciding to retire from my non-creative day job 4 yrs early in order to pursue my pottery and painting and teaching as a full-time venture. I’m so excited about 2016!
Sounds like exciting things await in 2016!
My accomplishment for this year is that I purchased a home and created a maker space for children. I also got engaged to my best friend and got my M.Ed. Not a bad year….
That sounds like an AWESOME year Julie! Congrats on all 🙂 Best of luck with your maker space 🙂
My greatest accomplishment was meeting my personal goal of reading 200 books this year!
That’s amazing!!
