What if Instagram disappeared tomorrow? No follow What if Instagram disappeared tomorrow?

No followers. No likes. No way to reach your people.

Here’s the thing: social media thrives on keeping us behind, always chasing the algorithm. But email? Email is different. It’s steady. It’s yours. And it works—even on the days you wake up anxious and human instead of superhuman.

That’s why I created my workshop Emails Over Algorithms with @constantcontact #partner #sponsored—to help creatives take back control, build email lists that feel good (not spammy), and write newsletters people actually want to open.

📅 Wednesday, September 10th at 10am PT

I don’t usually share things like this here, but I don’t usually share things like this here, but sometimes life cracks you open and the only way forward is through words. This is one of those times.

I just found out that my ex, Tony Malone—the man I once thought I’d spend my life with—passed away. It’s been nearly twenty years since I last saw him, yet the grief feels sharp and strange, like a scar I’d learned to live around suddenly split open again. Part of me doesn’t even feel entitled to this grief—after all, I hadn’t been part of his life for so long. He broke my heart, and instead of forgiving, I let that hurt calcify. I closed myself off to the possibility of ever knowing him again. But he was also the first partner I truly built a life with, and that will always matter.

Before me, Tony had already lived ten lives. In the 1980s he was deep in the LA hardcore punk scene—squatting in Hollywood, playing in Detox, The Weirdos, and other bands, wild and reckless with bleached or green hair and a guitar or bass slung across his chest. I remember helping him move and finding a vintage suitcase stuffed with flyers and memorabilia from those years. His stories spilled out like they couldn’t be contained.

By the late ’90s, he was working at Millie’s in Silverlake, where a guy taught him Flash and Illustrator. That twist of fate gave him a new direction: a print supervisor by day, designing websites for musicians like Exene Cervenka and Henry Rollins by night. He also created my best website ever!

By the time I met him, the chaos of his punk days was behind him. He was sober, steady, and grounded in a way that made me feel like he’d already lived through everything.

He was twelve years older than me, self-taught, brilliant beyond schooling, someone who had essentially raised himself after a childhood that was … (continued in comments 👇)
I almost didn’t post this because… yikes. My I almost didn’t post this because… yikes.

My old newsletters? Embarrassing. Fonts all over the place, no real flow, just me throwing words at the wall.

But here’s the thing: if I had waited until they were perfect, I never would’ve sent a single one. And those “imperfect” emails? They still got me sales, built relationships, and kept my business alive.

✨ Done is better than perfect.

If you’ve been putting off email because you don’t know where to start (or you’re secretly cringing at your own “before” version), I’ve got you. My workshop Emails Over Algorithms will help you build lists that feel good, write newsletters people actually want to open, and finally stop stressing over perfection.

🚨 This is why your business advice keeps failin 🚨 This is why your business advice keeps failing you…

When you try to follow biz tips that weren’t made for your brain, you:
❌ Burn out
❌ Procrastinate
❌ Start thinking you’re the problem

You’re not. The problem is one-size-fits-all advice that ignores how you actually work, think, and create.

That’s why I built The Club — a space where creative business owners (especially the multi-passionate, neurodivergent, and “I don’t fit the mold” types) get support, accountability, and tools that actually work for them.

📅 Doors to The Club are ONLY open September 10–15. Let’s grow your business in a way that works for your brain.

The Club is my online membership that helps creative business owners grow with skills, support, and accountability—without burning out, through:
50+ on-demand workshops & mentorship replays
4 live monthly Zoom sessions (business class, mentorship, crafty hour, co-working)
Goal-planning tools & accountability
A supportive creative community that gets you
