Hello!

We’re so happy to have you propose a workshop for CRAFTCATION 2020.

The conference has of a few types of programming:

  1. Lecture: Lectures are classes you teach solo, usually on a specialty topic that you’re an expert in.
(ie: Photoshop 101, How to Create a Newsletter or WordPress 101)
  2. Panel Discussion: Panels are business discussions with a moderator and up to three panelists.
  3. Hands-on Craft Workshops: These are workshops where attendees craft something.
  4. Extracurricular Events/Workshops: These are tours, off-site workshops and creative combinations.
(ie: crochet and beer tasting – combining a fairly simple craft with something else – usually food or drink)
  5. Office hours: Office hours are your chance to meet with attendees one-on-one to answer questions based on your expertise. Office hour sessions are limited and given to presenters on a first come first serve basis.
READ THESE POINTERS + KEEP THEM IN MIND WHEN PROPOSING:

*Generally presenters lead 2-5 workshops but it’s best to submit multiple proposals since often two people will submit the same or a similar idea. Our team will review your proposals and let you know which workshops we will be adding to the schedule.

*There is a place on the form for you to submit your availability. Please note that we will schedule your workshops within the times you say you’re available.

  1. You can submit BOTH business (lecture or panel) and craft workshops. In fact, the more the merrier!
  2. HANDS-ON CRAFT WORKSHOPS: Hands-on craft workshops can be 1.5 hours OR 3 hours. Attendees come in with a range of skills so classes can be beginning, intermediate or advanced. Usually beginning classes as well as casual craft sessions (which are simple classes, with basic supplies that lend themselves to social interactions) are 1.5 hours and more advanced/sewing classes are 3 hours. We are particularly looking for more intermediate and advanced 3 hour classes. That’s not to say we don’t need 1.5 hours classes (we do!) but don’t shy away from submitting advanced 3 hour class ideas. Supplies should be fairly simple. We have basic equipment (scissors, sewing machines, rulers, cutters etc…), you’ll tell us what you need and we’ll get it if we don’t have it.
  3. BUSINESS WORKSHOPS/PANELS: Business workshops/panels should be just under 1.5 hours (this leaves time for questions in the 1.5 hour session). If you have a panel idea please tell us about it on the form below. Attendees will be busy busy busy and we want to keep everyone fresh and alert. Things need to be short and concise but also brimming with information.

THANK YOU!!!
