DIY Fabric Stamping with Joone

Editor’s Note: I’m thrilled to introduce you to our friends at Joone who create irresistible craft kits in partnership with extraordinary artists. I’ve known Joone co-founder Lauren for many years (+ she’s a Craftcation Conference presenter alum!) and even though I only met the other half of Joone, Whitney at this past Craftcation, I knew right away that she’d fit right in with our band of creative misfits. Lauren and Whitney launched Joone to help people tap into their creativity while also providing makers a hassle-free easy revenue stream. They have a handful of kits (three of which are collaborations with Craftcation Conference presenter alums!) including embroidery, clayware, paper cutting, macramรฉ jewelry and the kit Nik used for today’s post – fabric stamping. now, let’s let Nik show you what she created with her Joone kit! -Nicole S.

WHAT TO DO:

1. Unpack all the supplies in the kit and read over the instructions and sample booklets that come in it. I put some of each color of textile paint into the palette provided, attached the first stamp I wanted to use onto the acrylic block, used the sponge to apply the paint to the stamp and practiced on a scrap piece of cotton fabric with the cotton batting provided beneath the fabric. The batting helps the stamping process and protects the surface you’re working on. Once I felt I had the hang of it, I moved onto the tote bag and used the ‘Beginner’ sample photo as my reference. Once I finished one side of the tote bag, I set it aside to dry and started on the tea towel.ย

2. For the tea towel, I used the ‘Intermediate’ design as reference, I appreciated these references since I know it’s easy to get stuck on deciding what to make or how to go about something new. I did change a few of the color schemes around to make it my own. Again, it was very easy to follow along with the instructions and examples. Once I finished the towel, I set it aside to dry and went back to the tote bag to stamp the other side using the ‘advanced’ design for my reference but also bringing my own take to it.ย

3. I really loved the bag that the kit came wrapped in and immediately knew I wanted to do something fun and different with it! The size of the bag is perfect to use for travel, to keep your shoes in before you put them in your suitcase (I already have one just like it that I use for this exact purpose). But, you can also use it for so many other things too! It would also be a super cute way to wrap a gift as an added bonus gift. ๐Ÿ™‚ Since I knew I wouldn’t be washing this bag I decided to use acrylic paint this time. I used the circle stamp provided in the kit to make a little confetti type design and l love how it turned out!ย

4. Once all the paint is completely dry, you just need to heat set it with an iron or a dryer and you’re good to go! There are so many possibilities & combinations just from this one kit. So, you can explore, get creative and have FUN!

This was a lot of fun and super easy to follow and complete. I think this would be a perfect gift for someone who always says they want to do something crafty but they don’t have the time/talent/skill etc. I also think this kit would be perfect for a craft night get together or bridal party craft night, a chill birthday party, or even a team building event, something where people of all skill levels can get together and make something new!ย
