November DIY and business book club 2016

November DIY and business book club from Dear Handmade LifeOk.  So It’s November.  Which means, that subconsciously, I’m already looking for gifts for my family and friends.  It’s crazy, I know.  I haven’t even brushed the leftover sugar off my teeth from Halloween, and I’m already trying to figure out what I’m getting people for Christmas.  Our book club picks this month contain two books that fit two of the people on my list.  For my sister, who is the best auntie and momma and would be an amazing pre school teacher if she ever needed to switch careers, I’d give her the Recycled Craft Box book. Its chalk full of things and projects and ideas and goodies galore to do with kids, with things you have around the house, and they all turn out adorable.  And for my littlest daughter, who is already dreaming of the clothing she will design someday, and the colors she will make them, and the people that will wear them, I would give her Gerties New Fashion Sketchbook… (because if she’s ever going to make me something, I’d want her to know what Gertie says.)

This months books also include Artists’ Way, and 101 Designer One Skein Wonders…in case those fit someone special on your list.  And because we are full of gift-giving spirit (yes, even in November), we are giving away three of these four books to a special reader this month.

To enter to win these books:

If you’d like a chance to win Gerties New Fashion Sketchbook, 101 Designer One Skein Wonders, or the Recycled Craft Box books, leave a comment in the section below telling me about the gift you are most excited to give, by November 25th, and we will pick a winner and ship out these books just for you!

Happy gift hunting, and gathering, and making and all that fun stuff!

The contest is now closed.  Congrats to Darla!

  1. I’m really excited to make cute little handmade gifts to the girls in my crafty ladies club. I think often the greatest gift is time + a yummy meal so I also hope to put together a community cooking adventure for my local Ronald McDonald House. ?

  2. My challenge in the next few weeks is making a bone-shaped doggie bed for my dad’s dog. The other challenge is figuring out how to pack and ship it across the country!

  3. I’m excited to make homemade hot chocolate sticks and homemade marshmallows for everyone in my family this year to enjoy at Christmas time 🙂 yum!

  4. I’ve been making a pair of intarsia mittens for each of my grown sons for the past 3 years … and THIS is the year I’ll be able to actually give them!

  5. I am most excited to give a self-covering button wreath of miscellaneous pieces of fabric left to me by
my mother and grandmother. Such memories and stories these fabrics tell! Hope I have enough buttons : )

  6. I volunteer for freedom house in SF which is a shelter home program for survivors of human trafficking and would like to donate any of these books to them. Thanks and happy crafting!
