maker: limor of soft peaks confections

This mother daughter venture was born from a love of baking, and weekly sessions spent together in the kitchen. The taste of a French cookie turned their Thursday baking hobby into a full time job, making these delicious little round bites of heaven. Macarons (donโ€™t be like me and confuse them with macaroons) are melt in your mouth cookies filled with meringues of different flavors. Soft Peaks Confections donโ€™t use any food coloring, preservatives or artificial anything, so the colors of the cookies are softer in hue then others you might see. They are getting rave reviews, so letโ€™s check them out!

Please introduce yourself.

My name is Limor andย I am the co-owner of Soft Peaks Confections.ย I am a mother, a baker, a dish washer, a wife, a food lover, and anย entrepreneur. ย I grew up in Israel in a small city where everyone knew each other.ย I currently live in Los Angeles.

What do you make or do?

Iย make All Natural French Macarons.ย I created this company with my mom and we make French macarons that do not contain food coloring, preservatives, or artificial ingredients. We also differentiateย ourselves by creating truly unique macarons such as Apple Pie, Bacon Banana, Lemon Acai, and many more.

Where can we find your creations?

You can find our macarons on ourย website, on our Etsy store, at Surfas, and at several retail stores in the LA area.

How long have you been creating and is it your full-time job?

We started our macaronย company two years ago and it became my full time job.ย I live, breath, and sleepย French macarons!

Did someone in your family, a friend or teacher introduce you to your creative side or have they helped you along the way?

Iย was introduced to French Macarons by my husband.ย Iย always loved to bake and had a knack for it. My mom andย I baked cakes, cookies, and pies everyย Thursdayย throughout my childhood. Spending time together in the kitchen was a memorable time for us both. Once we tried macarons we were hooked!ย Weย immediately tried to figure out how to make an awesome confection even better. We elevated it byย removing all the ingredients weย didnโ€™t want to eatย ourselves.ย Once we had our basic recipe we startedย having funย with it.

Where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration comes to us fromย everything, anything, and everyone. When we created our menu we turned to our loved ones and created flavor combinations based onย their favorite things. Each and every macaron we have was created for a specific familyย member. ย Now, we find inspiration fromย favorite dishes, smells, fresh ingredients we find at the farmers market, and from everything we see.

Whatโ€™s on the horizon for you and what you do?

We always try to expand our reach to new stores and clients. Ourย goal is to open our own brick andย mortar location.

What inspiring advice would you give to other creatives be they established or just starting out?

Do not getย discouraged by slow progress or road blocks.ย Youโ€™llย encounter plenty of both. Believe in yourself and remember itโ€™s a marathon not a sprint.

Who are the makers that inspire you?

There are so many but Delilah and Nicole are a true inspiration. Two strong andย amazing women who were able to create a vast community of makers that support one another.
