Patchwork Show City Tour: Santa Rosa
In two weeks we’ll be setting up for our only Patchwork Show of 2020. While we are so sad we didn’t get to visit all our favorite cities this year due to Covid-19, we are thrilled to be in the arms of Santa Rosa. All of our host cities are special places, but our girl Rosa is one of those places that the locals may grumble about in private but don’t you dare complain about her if you don’t also love her deeply. The community has been through a lot the last few years with devastating fires, evacuations and floods so our community pride is strong when we talk about all the wonderful things there are to do in Santa Rosa. You can check out some of our favorite local spots curated by Sonoma County Local Michelle Feileacan. We love supporting our fellow local independent businesses! Be sure to tell them you’re in town for Patchwork Show!

Even if you’re not a fiber enthusiast it’s worth a visit to experience this colorful and fun store.

I have never left the store without finding something totally unique. It’s one of my go-to spots to send visitors to get a taste of local creativity.
HERITAGE ALCHEMY
300 S A STREET
Brand new to A St. (like this week!), Heritage Alchemy aims to help people reduce their impact on the planet in small (and beautiful) ways. Refill stations for cleaning products, durable and well crafted housewares and a sweet selection of gifts. Hailing from an event planning background this shop is a passion project pivot and I am sure this is going to be a very welcomed addition to the neighborhood.

JEREMIAH'S PHOTO CORNER
441 SEBASTOPOL AVENUE
Jeremiah’s, as it is known, is a tiny shop packed with not only film and photographic supplies, but the knowledge of the shop’s proprietor and namesake. He can find almost any thing you’re looking for, troubleshoot your photographic problems and maybe host an impromptu dance party if the mood is right. He’s also got a selection of gifts and you can peep some of his incredible TinType portraits that he takes from the adjoining studio.

208 DAVIS STREET
Miracle Plum has been one of our favorites here for their carefully curated selection of wines, local foods, housewares and unique pantry items. They host art shows and cooking classes (and will again after covid!). Recently they added a takeout window just down the road at 608 Wilson. There you can pick up their rotating offering for a picnic or lunch! the takeout window is open Tue-Fri 11-2.
CRIMINAL BAKERY
808 donahue street
My absolute favorite place to indulge in the most delicious baked goods in Criminal Bakery and Noshery. Sweet and savory pastries alike, with wonderful coffee and teas along side. They also have a great selection of heartier lunch and brunch items like their frittatas and the warrior bowl!
radical family farms
808 donahue street
Located just west of Santa Rosa in the town of Sebastopol, Radical Family Farms is carving out a beautiful and delicious niche in the world of farming. This queer, woman of color owned, regenerative no-spray, no-till 1.5 acre farm provides asian heritage vegetables, herbs, flowers and a small selection of euro-centric market style vegetables to their CSA program and to local chefs.
henhouse brewing
322 bellvue avenue
Santa Rosa is home to too many breweries to count, but Henhouse is consistently a favorite. They offer a wide selection of brews that you will be stoked to try. Their unassuming tasting room location plays host to a rotating roster of food trucks to fill your belly while enjoying your brew.
nimble & finn's
123 fourth street
Our favorite ice cream makers Nimble & Finn’s just opened a new location in Railroad Square which we can’t be happier about. They use organic dairy from Straus Creamery, seasonal produce, and housemade jams, cakes, and candy in their inspired takes on classic flavors.

555 healdsburg avenue
Since Brew opened in 2015 it has quickly become a center of the community. Hosting open mic nights, drawing nights and the yummiest beers, ciders and cafe drinks, amidst comfy sofas and outdoor seating, it’s got that laid back 90’s coffee shop vibe.
cafe frida gallery
300 south a street, #4
New to South A st. is Cafe Frida. Tucked behind the Gallery at 300 A st, lies a broad patio and warmly inviting cafe. Mario (a local artist) and Mamadou, who has worked at a number of Stark’s spots, have created a lovely menu of unique cafe foods and really inventive cafe drinks. Try the Tamarind fizz, it’s incredible!
spinster sisters
401 south a street
Also in the A st. neighborhood is Spinster Sisters focuses on “Sonoma County Cuisine”. My favorite menu items are the wilted kale salad (tip: add a poached egg for breakfast, or chicken for lunch!) and trout dip which is served with the saltiest, butteriest bagel chips yum yum yum! But almost anything you choose is going to be fresh, delicious, and top quality. They also just opened a beautiful patio so you can eat outside!
grossman's noshery
308 1/2 wilson street
Open now in the restaurant space under Hotel La Rose, is the new Grossman’s Noshery from the Stark family. Bagels, Babka and Hamentaschen are just the tip of the noshery iceberg. Sandwiches, salads and latkes are on the menu along with whitefish salad and matzoh ball soup!
