Read this for the stuff I WISH someone told me when I started selling at craft fairs. 🛍️🎨

📊 1. Success at a craft fair doesn’t guarantee success at that same show the next time.

Shows, seasons, attendance, etc., all vary due to a variety of uncontrollable reasons. I’ve done great at a show one season and not great another season. I collect data from multiple shows and look at the stats to decide what shows to apply for.

👟2. Comfort is just as important as style when it comes to what you wear. Sneakers are 🔥.

☔ 3. You will have really crappy sales days but that’s all they are ONE BAD DAY. It could be due to the weather, other events, or any number of other reasons. Keep going! One show (bad or good) does not define you or your business.

Put as much effort into your display as you do into making products. Creating a branded, immersive experience for customers makes you look like a pro, makes it easy for people to shop, and increases the perceived value of your work. 🌟

🛒💰4. Have enough product. You should have 4 to 10 times the amount of product you hope or expect to sell. You don’t want your booth to look empty after you sell a handful of things and you want to have enough product to actually meet your sales goals. 🛒💰

Remember the joy of making stuff just to make stuff? It can be hard to give yourself permission to take time for exploratory creativity when your art has the pressure of paying your bills.

Here’s the thing to keep in mind:
Making time to be creative just for fun is a part of your business. It’s research and development. Big businesses have whole departments dedicated to this stuff. It’s not taking time from your business, it’s actually an important part of your business.

You hereby have permission to make for the pure enjoyment of making. Add it to your calendar this week!
