National Artists Drive by RAW Artists

The National Arts Drive Dear Handmade Life

Imagine, if you will, a drive-thru art display/pop-up shop/performance art exhibit across the continent!

That’s what the The National Arts Drive founded by RAW Artists is making happen! This FREE and exciting event is scheduled for June 6, 2020 from 1-4pm PDT all across the US, Mexico, and Canada.

Recently, Heidi Leurra, RAW Artist CEO and Founder, posted a heartfelt message on their website. Here’s a small excerpt:

According to a recent survey, 64% of artists and creative workers are unemployed as a result of the Covid-19 crisis, and 95% reported losing revenue as a result of the pandemic. In addition to these staggering job loss numbers, opportunities for artists and creatives to be seen, heard, and supported through events, gigs, showcases, markets, and tours have vanished completely, almost overnight. And with no definitive date that we can pinpoint for a return, the creative community as a whole is hurting.

As a creative events platform, we’re wounded too. But these are not the times to roll over and give up! These are the times to stand firm in your values and act in service with the resources you have available to you. Over the past couple of months, our team put our heads and hearts together to figure out how we could help. And here’s what we’ve got:

On Saturday, June 6, 2020, we’re calling all artists, performers, musicians and makers nationwide, RAW Artists or not, to join us in a massive movement we’ve titled The National Arts Drive.

The National Arts Drive Is a grassroots movement created to help local makers display, perform and showcase their work in their communities. If you are interested in participating as an artist, click here to register yourself and your art. You will be listed on a map with other artists and makers in your area. Then, on June 6th, you’ll up your booth, gallery, performance in your front yard, garage, balcony, etc. and do your thang! Supporters, you can check out the amp in your area and go visit local creatives in your community.

We are honored to be a community partner of this free community and artist experience initiative.
