INTRO TO PHOTO STYLING
We'll start by exploring the elements of photo styling and why it's essential for your creative business. Then we'll go over photo styling examples, both good and bad, and discuss what makes strong styling.
CHAPTER 2:
HOW TO DEFINE YOUR BRAND
Weak branding can make or break your business. You’ll learn what branding is, how to define yours and why your photos must reflect that vision for your business. We’ll offer you top branding do’s and don’ts along with lessons to ensure your branding is strong and clearly defined.
CHAPTER 3:
HOW TO SOURCE & USE PROPS
Props are an essential aspect of photo styling but if they aren’t used correctly they can turn your brilliant idea into a photo-fail. You’ll learn how to build your own prop closet on a budget and get creative ideas for prop storage and organization. Plus, we’ll share resources to find props along with key do’s and don’ts.
CHAPTER 4:
HOW TO CREATE PERFECT BACKGROUNDS
You don’t have to shoot on a white background! We’ll explore options like linen, wood and colored wrapping paper and offer up tips to create your own unique backgrounds. We’ll compare and contrast photos with varying backgrounds to illustrate how the wrong one can negatively impact your photo.
CHAPTER 5:
dslr + iphone camera basics + photo editing
We’ll delve into the basics (ISO, aperture, and white balance) of shooting photos with a DSLR* camera. Your iPhone can shoot and edit amazing photos, too; we’ll show you the easy way to master the techniques. *If you don’t have a DSLR camera, don’t worry there’s still a lot of information in this chapter for you.
CHAPTER 6:
HOW to build your at-home photo studio
Creating a photo studio at home does not need to break the bank. We’ll show you how to do it so you can achieve professional looking photos. We’ll cover how to set up your studio, different shooting angles, the ideal time of day to shoot, and you’ll discover the perfect spot to take photos.
CHAPTER 7:
balanced photo composition
Setting a focal point, filling the frame, adjusting your subject or position, and making sure the finished photo looks balanced. We’ll go into detail on all of these areas as well as teach you how to achieve balance in color, feel, and positioning in your photos.
CHAPTER 8:
HOW TO SET-UP A PHOTO SHOOT FROM START TO FINISH
We’ll take you through every step of a photo shoot from start to finish including scheduling and planning, taking the photos, editing them in Lightroom, and publishing and promoting your finished photos.
