Who produces Patchwork Show?

Patchwork Show was founded in Santa Ana, California in 2008 by Delilah Snell and Nicole Stevenson. You can read more about Delilah and Nicole here. Delilah and Nicole build upon the handmade community by offering makers an affordable venue to show their goods, network and build their businesses and guests an opportunity to support local business and be a part of the creative community in their city. Delilah & Nicole also produce Craftcation: Business + Makers Conference and founded the Dear Handmade Life blog.

How did Patchwork Show start?

After high school, Nicole Stevenson left Orange County and moved to San Francisco seeking a community of fellow creatives. Delilah stayed in Orange County and sought out interesting places and people in her own backyard. Thirteen years later, Nicole moved back to Southern California and into Delilah’s house. Nicole had been running a handmade business and selling her goods at craft shows. Delilah had been working hard to connect like-minded people, build a community of creatives and opened up an eco-shop that served as a meeting place for workshops and education in food, craft and the environment. One night, over a few glasses of wine on the patio, the girls got to talking. Finally they were both living in the same place and seeking the same thing… community and coolness in their town.

Craft show veteran Nicole was getting tired of trekking to big cities for festivals and Delilah was frustrated with the lack of cool free things to do in Orange County and wanted to unite the community of creatives she had built. They wanted to give other Orange County makers a local venue to showcase their goods. They started brainstorming and a few weeks later, they set a date and found a location for the first Patchwork Show.

That first Patchwork Show took place in the parking lot of Delilah’s brick and mortar store and had 25 vendors. Just a few years later, Delilah and Nicole were producing six shows a year in three cities with nearly 200 vendors at each event. Today Delilah and Nicole are grateful to have helped incubate hundreds of creative businesses who got their start at Patchwork Show and look forward to helping more creative entrepreneurs build their businesses.

“There are so many creative people in EVERY city and town, not just in the big cities. You don’t have to go where the ‘cool’ is, it’s right in your own backyard.” – Delilah Snell
“Craft can make the world a better place…the feeling one gets from making something with their hands is beyond empowering.” – Nicole Stevenson

What do guests and vendors have to say about Patchwork Show?

“There’s a camaraderie between the vendors at Patchwork more so than at any other show. Your shows are the best!!!”

“I just wanted to say thank you for having me at this past weekend’s event. It was my first event at Patchwork and it was awesome! It was great to meet you both and all the other lovely vendors as well!”

“Just wanted to say thanks for a great show. This was the first one I have done and it went great. I should have applied for the Santa Ana show too. Will hope for a spot next year.”

“I attended your show for the first time. It was REALLY great.”

“Thank you to you and the crew for hosting such a wonderful event! Please pass on my thanks to everybody for every little detail of hard work and the organization and high-spirited energy you all brought to the place.”

“The selection of vendors was amazing! So many talented people! Thank you for your hard work! The events ran so smoothly!”

“My sales were great and the show felt quite well organized and flowed really smoothly.”

“I’ve been lucky enough to be a vendor at Patchwork since you came to Oakland and this fall show was the best thus far.  I was seriously thinking about quitting the craft show thing but I scaled down my booth size, brought a few pieces that I love but didn’t know if anyone one else would like and they ended up getting the best response! (Of course, right?) So, thank you for renewing my drive and desire.”

“The most abundantly organized, fun, good energy, profitable event I have participated in yet (and I have done a lot of them through the years).”

“I wanted to thank each of you for hosting a fabulous show yesterday in Long Beach.  The turnout was phenomenal. A true testament to what you have built over the years.”

“It was so much fun!!! We got lots of amazing one of a kind things today!! Thank you for your amazing work putting his on!!!”

“I brought my Dad and he picked out a robot painting. Way better than getting him another tie from a department store that he will literally never wear. Love Patchwork!”

“One of the best shows to do and shop. I do a lot of shows, but love this show as one of my faves: and Delilah and Nicole are truly rock stars!!!!”

“This show was fantastic. The crowd was amazing, happy and friendly!”

“It was a really cool event, and we were thrilled to be in front of such a hip crowd. We also had a really great sales day, which is always a plus as well.”

“I wanted to take the time to thank you so much for an amazing event. Not only was the staff incredibly sincere and helpful, the entire show was the best I’ve participated in.”

“What you two have put together here is quite special and I am so grateful to have been a part of the magic this time around.”

“You guys are truly awesome. I have been in business for 9 years and I think you guys run my favorite show ever. It’s affordable, it’s organized, it’s FUN and quirky and crafty while still being really high quality… and most importantly, you guys care and that shines through.”
