Maker: Jami of Dime a Daisiee

I love it that Jami was inspired by watching her grandma doing something.  That speaks volumes to me, as I remember my grandma encouraging me in ways that are still special to me today.  Jami makes adorable clothes for adorable little people, and so if you are in the market for some of these things, go check her shop out! Meet Jami!

Please introduce yourself.

I’m a proud Filipina American born and raised in Long Beach, CA. My love for sewing started when I was a little rugrat in my pull ups watching my grandmother sew beautiful dresses and blankets. I currently reside in the city of Santa Ana with my loving husband.

What do you make or do?

I create special handmade baby outfits for little dolls and handsomes. These baby outfits are made with love and each piece is made by me. I make rompers, overalls, dresses, pants, and shorts.

Where can we find your creations?

You can find my things at Dimeadaisiee.com or in my Etsy shop at Etsy.com/shop/Dimeadaisieetoo

How long have you been creating and is it your full-time job?

Before making baby outfits, I actually was in the wedding industry for 5 years. I was an assistant seamstress for a prominent Orange County Bridal Salon as well as taking on my own clients at home. I was not in love with the wedding business and was introduced to the amazing world of baby photography. I now have been creating specialty baby outfits full-time since October 2015 and I’ve loved every second of it.

Did someone in your family, a friend or teacher introduce you to your creative side or have

they helped you along the way?

My creative side was definitely introduced by my grandmother, but my introduction to creating baby outfits was brought on by Amber Cunningham from Naturally Newborn Photography. She introduced me to this amazing world and encouraged me to put my skills and creativity towards making outfits for little bundles of joy. I will forever be thankful for these 2 amazing women.

What would be your perfect day off?

Being Lactose Intolerant, my absolute perfect day would be to go to Crème & Sugar and order a huge unicorn shake and not get sick, lol.

What inspiring advice would you give to other creatives be they established or just starting out?

Passion, hard work, and patience. As cliché as it sounds. Nothing ever happens overnight and you may think you’re heading towards the wrong direction. We all have to go through certain hardships or struggles to get us to a certain finish line. Be patient and don’t forget to be your #1 cheerleader.
